Your new home purchase is an exciting time! In addition to your new neighborhood surroundings you will have new interior living spaces to furnish and this can be a seductive time for shopping and curating your new homes interior.
Antiques, fine art, vintage furniture, oriental rugs and objets d’art; sound appealing, what about saving money? As a collector myself and professional art dealer including antique store and auction house experience, I’d like to share some of what I’ve learned over the years with those whom may have an interest in art and décor and what better time than now.
For many homeowners, there’s an enjoyable satisfaction hunting and especially finding those special pieces for your new home. Do you enjoy the hunt? If you answered yes, that’s when you’ve possibly transitioned from shopper to collector. Are you a collector? Maybe you are and have never though of yourself as one. Collectors are often savvier shoppers because they tend to have a more discerning eye. Another benefit for the discerning collector is that the items they purchase will typically retain value when they decide to sell one day. Patience is key but the reward is a home with more style and art and décor that has resale value.
Becoming a collector can also enhance your life as an enjoyable hobby! If you enjoy the hunt for collecting vintage period furniture and unique hard to find quality décor and one of a kind fine art then by all means always feel free to reach out to me, share sources, stories and to network. Collecting art, vintage furniture, décor and oriental rugs is one of my personal hobbies and I enjoy the hunt myself.
