Glendale, California was first “officially” named in 1883 by thirteen families that had settled here, got together in a local school and named the town.  This town later became incorporated as the City of Glendale in 1906.  Today, Glendale is the third largest city in Los Angeles County with a population over 200,000.  Located only nine miles north of downtown Los Angeles and with a network of convenient freeway access in every direction, Glendale offers a fine centralized location within all of Los Angeles.

The City of Glendale is beautifully enhanced by its geographic location near and within multiple mountain ranges including the: Verdugo Mountains, Santa Monica Mountains (Griffith Park), San Rafael Hills, the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest.  With over 30 square miles of land located within four mountain ranges, 35 city designated neighborhoods and over 45 city parks, Glendale’s geographic advantages and green areas are bountiful.

In addition to Glendale’s beautiful geography and exceedingly pleasant residential neighborhoods, like Adams Hill, Glenoaks Canyon, Greenbriar, and Rossmoyne, this is a great place to live and work!  One trip around Glendale’s “City Center” business district and you’ll see; Glendale is a vibrant pro-business city.  Glendale’s vast downtown includes many office buildings, store front shops, restaurants, and several regional shopping centers such as the “Americana”, “Glendale Galleria” and the “Brand Boulevard of Cars”.  In addition to Glendale’s robust downtown business district the city is enhanced with a clean industrial and studio core which houses industrial and entertainment businesses such as, Disney, DreamWorks Animation and KABC-TV.

With its abundant shopping, dining and recreational activities, Glendale also deserves high praise for embracing the culturally rich and diverse population that make Glendale “The Jewell City”.  With its own “Arts and Culture Commission”, the “Brand Library & Art Center” and soon to be developed, “Armenian American Museum”, Glendale residents and visitors can embrace the many arts and culture events that take place throughout the city.  With so much geographic, cultural and business strength within the City of Glendale, you can see why residents love this city.
